Unicat Catalyst is a global leader in the manufacture of catalysts for the petrochemical sector.

Holmes CRM supports the project management and customer management for Unicat's authorized dealer in Europe.

This company selected our CRM for its simplicity and ease of use, as well as its competitive total cost (TCO) when compared with other options in the market. They valued the lack of constraints in the baseline product, "out of the box". For example, the ability of the users to set the level of product in a drum that isn't full, whether in another solution, based on the market leader SAP, they were forced to define previously a drum of the specific number of litres, in order to have one unit of that drum.

On the other side, they had a number of specific requirements to adapt the tool to their needs, which required a 3-week customization project:

  • Data Model. Addition of custom properties in the Account, Project, Product entities.
    • A variety of data entities was customized: customer accounts, projects, project financial details, products, orders, invoices, quotes...
  • User Interface. Associated forms were customized, to implement validation rules, automatic fields, user-defined lists...
  • Relational searches. This is a basic, out-of-the-box feature of the product, so no customization was required.
    • E.g. Finding customers/projects/quotatons associated to a commercial product.
  • Attachments. Attaching files to a document (e.g. to a Project) was an out-of-the-box capability which required no customization.
    • E.g. this enabled to link data sheets of products to the product definition, and indirectly, to the projects linked to those products, without replicating those files unnecessarily, as it used to happen previously, when they were using Excel spreadsheets and DropBox.
  • Product Catalog
    • -Ability to introduce new products in the catalog, edit its specifications or add attachments (data sheets, PDFs, Excel sheets, etc.)
  • Automatic Generation of Printable Documents
    • Generation, from the Project view, of the Quotation and, when accepted, the corresponding Purchase Order, to procurement, and the Invoice to the customer.
    • Avoids to type the same information already available in the project level, saving time and preventing human errors.
  • Workflow Management
    • Work Queues creation
    • Dispatching workflow objects (such as Tasks, Projects, Cases) to workflow queues
    • Integrated console to display the elements of queues or search records by date, type or status
  • Stocks
    • Managing the level of stock of product was essential in the fulfilment of the projects. Hence a customization was done to provide the data structures required for the stock management (e.g. definition of the Inventory, Warehouse, Product Batches, etc.)
  • Managing Tasks and SLAs (Service Level Agreements)
    • Definition of deadlines and escalation times, automatic escalation events (e.g e-mail notification, console flashes), etc.

For all these changes, an estimation of just 15 man*days of work was quoted, except the SLA feature that was implemented afterwards.

The project was delivered on time and budget, and we're proud of their satisfaction to date.
