My brother raises many turkeys each year and I've not heard him say anything about them being mean. Turkeys are quite the regal birds really. So i was just wondering if this is normal for heritage turkeys or if there are any breeds that aren't mean like that. It's not just the males though…. The hens were even mean, they would attack each other, and they even ripped out their own feathers if they thought it was someone else they were biting. My husband said they had some mean turkeys when he was a kid. We have 65 turkeys currently, who are free range and semi wild but you can call them and feed them corn. Turkeys in the wild can be EXTREEMLY agressive, howeve turkeys in captivity can be very dosile.
