The 354th Fighter Wing mission is "To prepare aviation forces for combat, deploy Airmen in support of global operations and enable the staging of forces." Lieutenant Cary Salter, a pilot of the 354th Fighter Group with a two seat P-51 Mustang (GR-B). The 354th received its name "PIONEER MUSTANG GROUP" because it was the first group to get and fly the new North American P-51B as a combat unit . The 354th Operations Group provides air-bridge support and realistic combat flying training in support of 354th Fighter Wing, Air Force and national objectives.
