I'm curious as to why the demoness isn't added to the list of characters when playing the main game when runninng -portals. She jumped inside, followed by the other four heroes, starting their journey of discovery. Enter "_cl_playerclass 5" into the console followed by "map demo1".
These are the weapons used in Hexen II, wielded by the Crusader, the Paladin, the Assassin, the Necromancer, and the Demoness (Portal of Praevus only). For this reason, I don't think it's like Doom where there's a "full experience" difficulty and a "you stink at this game" difficulty -- we play for the puzzles, and the combat is just to keep things interesting.

To play as the Demoness class in the original Hexen II scenario, first start a a new game with any class/difficulty, then enter the console using the ~ key.

When a character gains enough experience points he or she goes up a level and this increases their health points and mana level. It's possible to create shortcuts to play the main game using her and I've never noticed any bugs doing so. Is there a mod to do this?

In Hexen II each character has six attributes which are randomised within certain ranges at the start of a game: As the character progresses through the game he/she gains experience from killing enemies - the bigger and badder the enemy the more experience is earned.
