Snakes do not simply go blind based on temperature or time of year.
Contrary to popular perception, snakes do not dislocate their jaws to eat large prey, they just have more complex jaw joints than typical vertebrates do. Do snakes eat chameleons?
I tried to feed him a frozen thawed rat today which he refused to take interest in at all, and I am very worried that he wont eat his normal live ones either.

All snakes are strict carnivores and swallow their prey whole. Rather than a simple hinge formed at the junction of the skull and lower jaw, snakes feature another set of bones in the jaw joint.
Snakes are generalist carnivores and will eat anything they can get at. A few species will eat eggs.
