The story essentially tells of the homage of these “Magi” to the one who was born king of the Jews. There is no story of three kings in the Bible. The problem is that very little of that version of the story is in Matthew’s Gospel. The Bible, however, nowhere says how many wise men there were. However, Matthew's Gospel does talk of magi who came to see the baby Jesus.
